Founder & CEO
Manish is founder & CEO of Friendbuy, where his deep e-commerce experience is put to good use. Prior to Friendbuy, Manish managed behavioral targeting solutions for Zappos, Ticketmaster and AT&T U-verse. A serial entrepreneur, Manish was also Founder & VP of Isovia, a provider of mobile solutions to large enterprises.
When he’s not starting companies, Manish acts, writes and produces independent films such as the festival darling Kissing Cousins and the short-film comedy Call Center.
Manish graduated from MIT with a Bachelors & Masters of Engineering in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering.
Prior to joining Friendbuy, Tony founded ContactComplete - a platform for crowdsourcing business contacts and industry metadata.
A bit of a startup junkie, Tony has been in the online sales and marketing trenches at high-growth digital companies including Music Interactive (F#), Bebo (AOL), Atom/Shockwave (Viacom), Advertising.com (AOL) and FatTail.
Tony earned a Masters of Science, Psychology from Lewis & Clark College and a Bachelors of Arts in Liberal Arts from The Evergreen State College.
Dave joined Friendbuy in 2010 as VP of Engineering and quickly rose to CTO. Since then he has led all aspects of product development, including architecture, product definition and management of our growing engineering team. Dave has over 15 years experience in software engineering, web development, architecture and product development. His previous roles include VP of Technology at mobileStorm and Sr. Software Engineer at Fox Interactive Media.
Dave is a proud parent who enjoys playing with his kids, camping, cooking, and drinking wine and bourbon. But not in the same glass, of course.
Stephanie is a front end developer at Friendbuy. She graduated from Carnegie Mellon University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing and a minor in Psychology. Throughout her collegiate career, she took courses in computer science and communication design to supplement her major. After a year of working within the private executive protection industry as an investigative analyst, she decided to take time off to build upon her previous coding and designing experience to pursue a career in software development.
Stephanie enjoys going on spontaneous hiking adventures and checking out all the events Los Angeles has to offer. She also likes to spend her time longboarding, people watching, and doodling in her sketchbook.
Britain is a Junior Software Developer for Friendbuy. He graduated Summa Cum Laude with a B.S. in Computer Science from LMU and was a member of Sigma Xi - Scientific Research Honors Society. He has lots of tech support and troubleshooting experience in addition to programming.
Britain is an animal lover who frequently volunteers for a local animal rescue group. His free time is generally spent playing games (both video games and tabletop games).
Ray Toal is a software engineer at Friendbuy, which he joined in October of 2012. He's also been a professor of Computer Science at LMU since 1986. Prior to Friendbuy, he held consulting positions at various California tech companies, including Citysearch, CityGrid Media, M-GO, Handmade Mobile Entertainment and Medaxis Corporation. He's an expert on infrastructure, data-intensive applications and APIs, but enjoys doing full-stack development in any programming language, any time. He has a Ph.D. in Computer Science from UCLA.
Ray's not a fan of commuting/driving long distances in Los Angeles. But really, who is?
Richard started his career in technology at Newegg.com as a content manager. He built an extensive knowledge base to organize and distribute content about internal business software company-wide. After that, he joined his first tech startup in Los Angeles, filling roles from Social Media to SEO and Content. He transitioned to software development in 2012 and through self-education, mentorship, and an internship, he launched a full stack web development career. Richard has experience with multiple programming languages and various web technologies, leveraging his start on the business side of startups to create great software that users love.
Richard is an avid reader and collector of books, loves great coffee, and enjoys creative writing. He spends his time at home with his wife, enjoying local coffee shops and restaurants, or hunting through the shelves of used bookstores. Richard has a reputation of being very friendly and you will often find him casually chatting with the various people he meets throughout his day.
Sean started his tech career as a dev-ops engineer in the entertainment industry and entered software development in 2007. Sean was a Senior Developer at Cars.com and was a proud member of the uWink team, a company founded by Nolan Bushnell of Atari and Chuck E. Cheese fame. More recently, he has been working on automated deployment and learning how to more properly orchestrate software systems. Sean loves functional programming, algorithms and low-level (i.e. assembly language) programming. He tends to be very thorough, aiming to do something right the first time.
Sean is married with four children, working remotely out of Grandview, MO. He moved to MO in 2013, happily trading endless traffic for Google Fiber and a much larger house. His family is actively involved in their local church, living out the great commission in his community as much as they’re able to. There isn’t much free time these days, but when there is he likes to read or watch TV with his wife. He also likes to dabble in the study of hermeneutics and history when time permits (very rare).
Sales & Marketing Team
Samantha serves as part of the business development team here at Friendbuy. Her love of fashion coupled with her sales and tech background provide her with the tools to succeed in the e-commerce space. Prior to Friendbuy, Samantha worked in the fashion industry, dabbling in retail, wholesale and PR. Samantha graduated from American Jewish University with a Bachelor of Arts in Business with a minor in psychology.
When she’s not dominating LinkedIn, you’ll most likely find her reading a New York Times best seller or checking out the hottest new restaurant in town. She contributes to NPR and recently became a member of LACMA.
Teresa brings over eight years of experience in internet marketing, brand positioning and content creation to Friendbuy. She provided strategic, creative and analytical marketing expertise to several key properties within the Travel/Lodging division of Internet Brands and helped build the marketing department during the early days of Gorilla Nation, the world’s largest online ad sales rep firm. Teresa is a proud graduate of M.I.T.
Teresa is also an accomplished writer, actor and producer. She is a volunteer advocate for Break the Cycle, a national nonprofit that inspires and supports young people to build healthy relationships and create a culture without abuse. Her super powers include parallel parking, power napping and spending too much money at farmer’s markets.
Mike Volpe joined HubSpot in early 2007 as the company's fifth employee and currently serves as Chief Marketing Officer. He heads HubSpot's lead generation and branding strategy through inbound marketing. Mike is an MBA graduate of the MIT Sloan School of Management and received his BA in Economics and Government, summa cum laude, from Bowdoin College.
Mike used to be an avid golfer, play recreational ice hockey and work on home improvement projects, but that was before having 2 sons in the past 3 years, so now he spends his free time playing cars and trucks!
Dan is co-founder of Grokky - software that allows companies to achieve their management best practices and root out common forms of dysfunction. Back in 2007, Dan was the second engineer to join HubSpot. He led the middle-of-funnel product team, managed and recruited engineers, and built many core systems and customer-facing features.
Dan considers himself an amateur molecular gastronomist and has nearly every kitchen gadget known to man. When not working or exercising, he's usually in the kitchen experimenting. In a past life, Dan was a frequent DJ at nightclubs around Boston. These days you can occasionally catch him playing at charity technology events.
Brian is currently the Design Chief at Blade, Boston's premier product foundry. Prior to Blade, Brian served as President at Ministry of Supply, Sr. Director of Customer Experience at Gilt Groupe and Director of Marketing and User Experience at Zappos.com. He is passionate about designing for experience where the user is king and where empathy guides decisions. Brian also is an advisor at Flybridge Capital, Dorm Room Fund and Bow & Drape.
When not building products, you can find Brian somewhere in the middle of the Boston Harbor, riding the waves and dreaming of taking his boat to Cape Cod (sadly, his boat is too small). By now his little white fluffy dog Franz is feeling left out. Don't worry Franz, Brian loves you and spends a skewed amount of time with you.
Lynn Stetson is an industry veteran in user experience, product development and ecommerce. She's designed, built and optimized product experiences for over 20 years. Lynn held leadership positions at Zappos.com, OnlineShoes.com, Vegas.com and Curl.com. Lynn is currently the Director of User Experience at Riot Games where she leads multiple product initiatives. She wears many hats, including the one in the picture above.
When Lynn isn’t working, she spends time optimizing her own life experiences by doing things that inspire her, like sea kayaking with killer whales, diving with great white sharks and hot air ballooning over the Serengeti.
Patrick is EVP of Marketing and Content Strategy at Refinery29. Prior to Refinery29, Patrick was Founder and President of Shopflick (Sugar Publishing). Before Shopflick, he co-founded RocketXL (Cossette Communications Group), a digital marketing agency. Mr. Yee was an equity research analyst at Soros Fund Management and began his career in mergers acquisitions banking at Wasserstein Perella. Mr. Yee graduated from NYU and is a member of the Board of Directors of Apex for Youth and a member of the Creative Advisory Council of Nest.
